Weather

Last week we had lots of very hot, humid weather.  Over the past couple of days we've had some great rain, which kept us indoors more than we'd like.  Yesterday evening the boys and I got out in the backyard and they created a "flash flood" in their sand/dirt box.  (Can you tell Davis has heard about flash flood warnings several times lately?)  While I was enjoying the cooler temperatures, the boys were playing with water like it was 90 degrees.  Fortunately, I stopped taking pictures when their clothes came off.  The fun they had was totally worth the muddy footprints through the house, slightly elevated water bill, and bathtub that needs a good scrubbing.

The rain brought with it renewed life in some of our plants.

And a nice cucumber that we will certainly eat for lunch today.  The weeds have definitely taken off as well!

Basil is still looking great.  Cucumbers and basil can now be added to the short list of plants I can keep alive.

This is the hydrangea that I almost gave up on.  It looked completely dead until a few weeks ago when this green starting appearing.  I'm glad Derek convinced me not to dig it up!

Reece

Its official, Reece has a personality.  And his own opinions.  And his own interests.  Who am I kidding, though?  He always has.  As a second child, sometimes his voice has admittedly been drowned out by his older brother's very loud one.  But this little guy isn't going to play second fiddle to anyone.  He has two speeds:  Ninja and Lover.  He's either hitting things with a sword (or any object that remotely resembles a sword) or giving hugs and kisses like it's his job.  When one of us leaves the house and gives him a kiss goodbye, he always reminds us, "Hug next."  And out of the blue, he'll just come over and plant one on you as if he senses that it will make you happy.  And if he ever gets a boo-boo, you better believe he'll get over it quickly, but he needs a kiss first.  This little boy is so sweet and gentle, yet so rough and tough at the same time.  We're so thankful for him and for the fun he brings to our family.  We will definitely keep him around...

As I type these words, Reece is playing in his dirt/sand box in the rain.  Davis opted to play inside with Legos, but Reece is totally in his element.

Reece and his big bro/hero, Davis.

That face!
